Let’s Talk Talking

And by Talking, I mean podcasts.

And by podcasts, I mean true-crime podcasts.

I may have an unhealthy obsession!

All jokes aside, when I’m not using Spotify for working out or teaching a yoga class, I am filling my ears with tragic stories.

I just need to know…. am I alone?

What is it with the surge in popularity of true-crime-related material? The documentaries, the limited series, the movie adaptations, and of course – the podcasts?

I have been a fan of true-crime since I was a wee one… back to the days of Unsolved Mysteries (with the OG, Mr. Robert Stack) and America’s Most Wanted (thank you, Mr. John Walsh). While I do not understand why it is SO popular of a genre, I am utterly grateful that my macabre interest has a much wider base of material to pull from.

Are you into true-crime? If so, what are you listening to? If not, why?

Here are my current favorite podcasts that I regularly listen to:

Learning is fun

I am currently on a track to complete my 350 hour Yoga Teacher Training, allowing me the honor of becoming a 500-hour RYT (registered yoga teacher).

That’s not a weekend-workshop to learn a pre-programmed trademarked class with copyrighted material. Not that there is ANYthing wrong with this model of learning and teaching; I, myself, have undergone many weekends of these workshops and carry several of these types of certifications! However, the style of learning that a yoga teacher training puts students through involves not only classroom 50/200/300/500 hours, but hours/days/weeks/months (and for me, a year!) of time dedicated to practice, practice, practice … oh, and more practice.

I initially went into this 350 hour path with the goal of completing the program within 3-5 months, by taking a part-time approach that combined online and in-person time.

But…. as I like to say…. LIFE happened.

So here I am, a year later. Really taking care to dive into the material with an honest intent. Giving myself true grace in balancing the time requirements with my life demands. But most importantly, finding the peace in honoring the process.

To be honest, I would have LOVED for this to be a weekend-workshop-endeavor!

But I can’t acquire quality from fast-food learning.

What has happened has been a beautiful progression of my learning style. Who would have thought?!

All I can say is the more I stand in my own way, the more grace I give myself and the more I grow in my capacity for self-love and patience.

So while I am really really really REALLY loving my material, I am so pleasantly surprised to have gifted myself so much more by embarking on this 350-hour journey:

Grace
Peace
Passion
Curiosity
Enthusiasm
Empathy
Diligence
Creativity
The Moon (more on that at a later time!)

Long story short…. stop standing in your way. There is so much available to you once you step aside!

Delusions of Grandeur?

It always starts with an idea, right?

I initially created this site as a means to move my fitness work online, connect with former students/clients/colleagues, and grow my network. I wanted an avenue to build upon my work in online teaching and training. I planned to expand my reach further. I envisioned a whole online eRnaFit community.

Yeah. I think the word “delusion” appropriately suits this whole idea!

What I quickly discovered is that though I had good intentions, plans and follow through… Life gets in the way.

So here I am again…. this time with a whole new set of ideas. BUT, with a different and (more importantly) practical approach. Let’s see how this goes.

I think the moral of my story is…. if it’s important to you, you will find the right path in time.

I’m coming again… but with a whole new approach.

Let’s do this internet-websitey-thing!

2023, Happy new year!

Welcome to the start of a new year! I have discovered that as I age, the years seem to come faster. Is that just me?

So what will this year hold for you? While I do not tend to take on “resolutions” anymore, I do continue to see the breech of a new year as a good time to reevaluate and welcome the prospect of opportunity. And though ANY time is a good time to reinvent oneself or make changes, there is something about opening a new yearly calendar that breathes a sense of renewal.

I, for one, have my eye on cultivating more PEACE in my life. Not that my life is tumultuous or out of control – rather, I want to focus on finding the peace throughout my life… across any circumstances, challenges, celebrations, and even (most importantly) in my day-to-day.

I tend to have two emotions:
Happy
Mad

Very seldom is there much deviation from either. Overall, I am a chill happy chick. However, I have felt pretty out of balance as of late… and by “late”, I mean recent years.

Yeah, non buono.

So I crave the ability to discover and maintain the PEACE amongst whatever I am going through. Easy task, right?

For me, this task involves a holistic approach to my total wellness:
– Mental
– Spiritual
– Physical
– Social

So while it seems a simple idea, it is an idea layered with complexity and thoughtful intent. I am up for the task, and welcome the start of this year to embark on my joyrney of peace!

What about you? What are your goals for your 2023? Or do you balk at the ‘New Year New You’ ideology?
